Twitter has died...
« on: May 06, 2010, 05:10:30 AM »

I think twitter is dead.

Too full of spam these days.

Although along with facebook,
twitter may still be good for actually
trying to network with people.

People are more interested to promote their links than using Twitter to communicate now, but you can always unfollow someone anytime if you don't like what he is twitting to you.

Yeah, I agree to that. I have a couple of Twitter accounts with a few 1000 followers, but they're not responsive at all. We basically just throw offers at eachother....so I focus on other things!

I'm not so sure you should put a final nail in the Twitter coffin just yet. Twitter saw 100% growth since 2009 and Biz Stone still hasn't played his trump card yet (ie) monetizing the biz model.

For me, I got a 3-way humming along working my Twitter activity.

I use Tweet Spinner to find and follow major guys in a variety of niche markets. Tweet Spinner costs me $14 a month, but the recurring revenue I generate is $45, so that's a non issue.

I use TwAitter to store and post recurring Tweets and alternate them weekly. I mostly post up my top 10 affiliate action and use Bit.ly on all of them and since the new Bit.ly cPanel shows me where the click throughs come from and since Twitter is usually #2 or #3 - I see no reason to kill that one either.

I post up links of useful content I find to my Amplog over at http://ferreemoney.amplify.com/ (its cool and its free) and got my Amplog is linked to my Facebook, Twitter, Posterous and a few other social sites and still, Twitter gets its fair share of clicks.

So by this long winded soliloquy - I submit Twitter ain't dead  Undecided

It's still great in the very least for traffic. And since ppl click your link out of interest, all the better. I use it merely for a means to more traffic.

I dont exactly believe twitter is dead, its just that there are spammers, but looking at the other side of the coin, it still gives me targeted traffic..

It so comes down to how you interact and treat your base of followers. I offer up lots of good quotes, and maybe some one-liners from comedians such as Steven Wright. Followers love that stuff, and will retweat like crazy.

I can tell when I'm sending them too many links, they will tune out and response will dry up, but as long as I treat them great, then they will be open to seeing marketing related tweets.

I agree with richard in this case. If you can maintain a good relationship with your followers and not only concentrate on the earning/traffic part, then twitter is still a good place. And when you have got some good followers, the base would increase!

I find twitter still useful. I'm picking up nuggets from following gurus - a second education really.

I still find Twitter very useful. I hardlybspend any time there anymore as my main site these days does much better from FB, but I know people that sustain their entire business on it alone. It is all dependent on how you use it. Good, helpful content + answering peoples questions in a non-spammy way will equal better response than just regurgitating offers over and over ever will.
On a more personal note, I find it very useful to keep up with people. I gave up my google reader account for twitter a while ago, and I am so much happier.

Would still tell that a group of 10 followers genuinely interested in your tweets is better than 1000 who do it for reciprocal following mindset.. I ve seen it many a times these days..

Yeah you're right, I got 1000 follower only 2 days and the people seems having reciprocal following mindset.. I would be concentrate in the quality in the future, trying to be play in the spesific niche.
